NCAA Best Bet Season Record: 0-0
There are only 3 baseball games today and I hate all of them. So its finally time for some good ole Fashion College Football. I am typically betting based on data. I like having a sample size to make a rational decision. So early season bets, especially best bets, in all sports are going to be based on trends. West coast teams traveling east, elevation differences, and things like non-conference records. So for an early season game, I found one that checks some of those boxes.
Utah is hosting Florida. Gainesville is 177' above sea level and Salt Lake City is 4,265' above sea level. Utah has won 14 straight home games dating back to 2020. Florida has not played a true non-conference game outside of the state of Florida since 1991, where they lost to Syracuse. Cam Rising has been ruled as doubtful for today's game, but I trust in how Utah manages to always play great ball in their home stadium.
A trap more casual fans fall into is always Conference vs Conference, and that does have merit. The reason why it's a trap in this case is that Utah thumps like an SEC or Big Ten team. They're not a typical small calves Pac-12 team. They aren't going to get bullied around by Florida, and Florida just hasn't recovered from the post Urban Meyer era. Graham Mertz doesn't move me and they lack dangerous rushing and receiving options. I do like that Florida loves maulers on the offensive line, and typically gives that non-conference advantage, but not against Utah.
Take Utah at -110, it's going to be hard to find better value.
