MLB Best Bet Season Record: 57-57
The Guard Dawgs and M's have been two of my favorite teams to place my best bets on. What makes this an auto bet on the M's for me is that they have Bryan Woo taking the bump for them. Woo has tossed 33.2 IP over 6 starts for the Mariners and in those 6 starts he has a 1.07 ERA, 2.38 FIP, 24 K's, 0.53 WHIP, and 85.2% LOB rate. Under the hood looks amazing too.
The Walk rate being a paltry 1.7% is truly impressive. The 4SEAM is unhittable because of his exceptional command, batters have a .132/.132 BA/SLG against it. The Sinker is a weapon against lefties, and the Change is more than a show me. With his stellar command, he doesn't get many whiffs but induces a ton of weak contact, resulting a 40% Groundball rate and a middle of the pack average exit velocity at 88.5 MPH. What he does well is mix in enough off speed to keep patters honest. The Sweeper and Slider don't show up often, but when they do they've induced a 42.9% and 33.3% whiff rate respectively.
This type of command does well into the Guard Dawgs. They are a top 10 offense but they also aren't the BABIP kings they've been in year's past. their offense has become a little more in line with the rest of the league's good offenses, and that's exactly what Woo is feasting on right now. Can't just take walks against him and you have to be able to BABIP him to death, which teams like the Red Sox, Brewers, and Dodgers are much more equipped to do than the Guardians with they 26th ranked BABIP in all of MLB.
