Freddy Peralta has been awesome so far in 2025. In 23.1 IP he's posted a 2.31 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 28 punchouts. While the Athletics have done a great job of avoiding the punch out, only striking out 17.9% of the time, 2nd best in all of MLB, they don't hit the fastball well, with only 31.1% of their hits coming on the old number 1. Peralta's fastball has always been one of the best in the league and in 2025 batsmen are only slashing .185/.352 on his 4SEAM and that sets up a devastating changeup that batters are only slashing .077/.077 so far in the 2025 campaign.

I say all this to say that this is a bad matchup for the A's. The A's have been better than anyone predicted on the back of a solid offense, but I think Peralta poses a big problem to the approach Mark Kotsay's squad takes. A's pitching is bottom 5 in MLB and with how good Perlata is the Brewers are the best bet.
