2024 Preview

The Washington Commanders have been freed from the worst ownership in professional sports. Dan Synder is gone!!! Will good football follow? Well...

I am not a fan of Kliff Kingsbury's offenses. They are static and one note. They require special levels of play from QB and receiver to succeed at the NFL level. The lack of motion and borderline malpractice of volume of 11 personnel from the shotgun gives the offense an uphill battle. It got solved every year around week 8 when he was the HC and play-caller in Arizona, and there he had Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. He has a rookie Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin now. It's a bit of a downgrade. They did address the offensive line to an extent. They have a rookie fourth rounder protecting the blindside with a fairly strong interior of Nick Allegretti, Tyler Biadasz, and Sam Cosmi.

Jayden Daniels is interesting. 5th year breakout College QB's have a shaky track record in the NFL. Daniels was fantastic, but there are concerns I have for him at the NFL level. HE does not protect himself at all. Those were all clean hits by the way. His reliance on his legs to try and make things happen instead of giving himself up opens himself up for massive hits, especially at the NFL level. The second concern was that there was NFL offense for him at LSU. Not 2019 level but any offense that features multiple top 10 players raises an eye about a QB's ability to deal with NFL level pressures and windows. Having Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas, and Will Campbell on your offense makes life incredibly easy. Daniels simply will no longer have it incredibly easy.

I also found the rest of their draft uninspired. Ben Sinnott doesn't have ra solid position and Luke McCaffery doesn't look like an immediate contributor. Defensively they did address quite a bit and with Dan Quinn as head coach you imagine their defense will be much better than their league worst group last season. Much like the Patriots, they could not address every need all at once and need multiple years to improve the unit. Mike Saintrisil and Jer'Zhan Newton will be immediate contributors in the secondary and defensive line. Frankie Luvu and Bobby Wagner in theory should make the defense much better immediately, but their age makes this a tall task. I do have worries with Dan Quinn's defense, namely that his defense have only ever been great when having generational players. The Commanders do not have any generational players on defense. The corner situation is rugged. The safeties leave a lot to be desired, and the defensive line should be better but who knows how many great years Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne have in them. Much like the Patriots offense, this unit needs a full scale tear down and rebuild, and the tear down is till only just begun.

OVER OR UNDER

Under. 6.5 is way too high for a team so bereft of talent on both sides of the ball.

2024 Preview

This year is a poison pill. The Daniel Jones extension is a specter hanging over the organization and there is no true path forward until the guaranteed money runs out or the dead money hit is small enough to warrant cutting him loose. The issue has less to do with him than it does the team's complete and utter failure to build a roster. This year should provide some enthusiasm however. The foundation could be getting laid. Malik Nabers is incredibly explosive and has top 10 receiver potential. Andrew Thomas is a stalwart LT and the additions of Jon Runyan and Jermaine Eluemunor should make the offensive line much better than the dreadful unit they were last year. The issue is going to be the lack of weapons aside from Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary. Wandale Robinson and Darius Slayton are what they are; replacement level receivers. Theo Johnson should be a good NFL player, but the issue is that he's a rookie TE that's going to receive a ton of focus as a pass catcher from defenses. Daniel Jones has shown he can play well, but he's not going to elevate anybody, and this roster needs to be elevated.

The defense has exactly 2 great players and 1 outstanding player. Bobby Okereke and Brian Burns are great at linebacker and EDGE. Dexter Lawrence is a simply outstanding NT. The best in all of football. A one man rushing defense and pass rush! The issue is the rest of the defense is replacement level to poor. Isaiah Simmons and Jason Pinnock are replacement level players. Dane Belton, Deonte Banks, Boogie Basham, Kayvon Thibodeaux and Adoree' Jackson are below replacement level players and that can't fly. In the dream world where Danny Dimes balls out and the offense is consistently able to score 24 or more points, the defense will likely be a bottom 5 unit. it's bleak

OVER OR UNDER

Under. 6 is far too rich for this team

Player Prop

Dexter Lawrence at +6000 is outstanding odds. If he puts up double digit sacks and the unit is at least mediocre he can and will win this award

2024 Preview

The Eagles are a peculiar team. They have great roster talent, in theory great coordinators in Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio, and arguably the best front office in the NFL. They might have an awful head coach. Nick Sirianni does not do anything but be corny to sideline reporters. The season fell apart when their security guard couldn't be on the sideline. The team simply did not get up to play down the stretch. Losing two coordinators should not be that catastrophic and get you to a point where you have to resort to Matt Patricia, who shouldn't be on a pop warner coaching staff, let alone an NFL one. It's hard to ignore what was such a brutal collapse last season when previewing this one, especially when most of the roster is returning.

Jalen Hurts should be solid again. AJ Brown and Devonta Smith are arguably the best receiver tandem in the NFL. Dallas Goedert is as solid as they come at TE and the addition of Saquon Barkley will make the most of what should be another year of great offensive line play. Jason Kelce retiring is massive and takes depth away from their playbook but they retain Jordan Mailata, Landon DIckerson, and Lane Johnson who are excellent. Cam Jurgens has a tall task replacing the greatest center of all time, but he's quality enough to be above replacement level.

The real issue is still the defense. Vic Fangio can't cover up a dearth of talent everywhere that isn't the defensive line. Bryce Huff, Jalen Carter, Josh Sweat, Jordan Davis, and Brandon Graham is a fantastic rotation. Jalen Carter has DPOY potential and will likely be bale to win a couple of games on his own. The issue is the rest of the defense is replacement level or worse. Quinyon Mitchell should be good. He's a freaky athlete that will be bale to matchup well in the slot with just about everyone. He still needs to be developed and get used to NFL level competition. The rest of the secondary won't be helping him out and linebacking corp won't be helping him out. Isaiah Rodgers is a career special teamer who took slot corner snaps when he needed to for the Colts and now he's going to be a starting corner in their nickel package, which is the new base. Darius Slay and CJ Gardner-Johnson just isn't particularly great at anything besides instigating and Darius Slay is becoming very long in tooth for corner. Reed Blakenship is the one shining star in that he's a solid FS and should make some plays. The reddest flag is that he linebacking corp is Devin White, who is an athlete that uses his tremendous speed to make up for his awful gap assignment and linebacker play in general, and Zack Baun who is coming off a career year for the Saints but was thoroughly mediocre aside from that. The only reason Devin White was passable in Tampa was because he played next to Lavonte David, who is the best Mike Backer of this generation. If the rushing play is not stuffed at the point of attack, the play is going for 6+ yards against the Eagles

Even with all my worries, they have enough dudes to win the division

OVER OR UNDER

Over. They'll win 12 games. They have 5 wins in the division waiting for them. It shouldn't be too difficult for them to win 7 out 11 games

Player Prop

Jalen Hurts +1000 is a great bet to cash out on.

2024 Preview

The Cowboys are in an awkward spot. They had to let a ton of talent walk due to how they have money tied up in Zach Martin, Dak Prescott, Trayvon Diggs, and CeeDee Lamb. All amazing players at their positions, but that means they will have significant roster churn certain years. This is one of those years. Luckily for the Cowboys, they have a great front office that identifies high level talent and plug and play starters in any round of the draft. Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe are plug and play along the offensive line. The lack of a quality running back is less of an issue since CeeDee Lamb will always force a light box and it will allow old man Zeke to fall forward for 4 yards a carry. The offense should be great. Dak should have another great season. It's something that should be a constant as long as they keep paying their foundational pieces.

The defense has some more questions as they lost a lot talent and Dan Quinn as DC. I don't know if the defense can maintain it's high level of play. The Cowboys had issues against good offenses to begin with, but now their dominance against inferior opponents will be in question. Trayvon Diggs, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Micah Parsons are foundational pieces who all have potential to win games with high level plays. Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson are a solid safety pairing. The issue is going to be linebackers are the other corners. Jourdan Lewis is shaky in the slot and now they'll be relying on a 4th round rookie in Caelen Carson to play the field side. There's a chance he's great, but more likely than not he'll end up having some issues adjusting to the NFL. Eric Kendricks and Damone Clark are fine players. The issue is that fine might not be good enough to support the lack of run stuffing lineman. I think their defense takes a step back this season.

OVER OR UNDER

The over feels like a lock. The division has 5 wins for them. If they can't get 6 out their remaining 11 games they have massive issues

PLAYER PROP

Dak Presoctt +1800 MVP is an awesome cash out after he becomes 3rd best odds to win it after beating the Giants on primetime
